AI Tools Terms of Use

These AI Tools Terms or Use explain how you can, and cannot, use any AI services that we may make available to you via our websites (“AI Tools”), in addition to our general Website Terms of Use.

 

By using any AI Tool you agree to the following terms:  

What can and can’t I do with the AI Tool?

Do:
  • You may provide input to the AI Tool (“Input”), and receive output from the AI Tool based on the Input (“Output”). Your Input and Output are collectively “Content”.
  • You may use any Content created by the AI Tool in an educational context, provided that: 
    • The Content is clearly attributed to you or your educational institution and you acknowledge that you and/or your educational institution take ultimate responsibility for the Content.
    • The role of AI in formulating the Content is clearly disclosed in a way that no reader could possibly miss, and that a typical reader would find sufficiently easy to understand.
Do not:
  • Input any personal information into the AI Tool, including sensitive or confidential student information, or any business confidential information.
  • Share Outputs that may offend others or that violate our Website Terms of Use or Privacy Policy
  • Attempt to or assist anyone to reverse engineer, decompile or discover the source code or underlying components of our AI Tool, including our models, algorithms, or systems (except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law).
  • Automatically or programmatically extract data or Output.
  • Represent that Output was human-generated when it was not.
  • Interfere with or disrupt our AI Tool, including circumventing any rate limits or restrictions or bypassing any protective measures or safety mitigations we put on our AI Tool.
  • Use Output to develop models that compete with our AI Tool.

 

My Input, and Outputs generated by the AI Tool – what do I need to know? 

Responsibility: You are responsible for Content, including ensuring that it does not violate any applicable law or these Terms. You represent and warrant that you have all rights, licences, and permissions needed to provide Input to our AI Tool. 

Accuracy: Output may not always be accurate. You:

  • agree that you will not rely on Output from our AI Tool as a sole source of truth or factual information, or as a substitute for professional expertise.
  • must evaluate Output for accuracy and appropriateness for your use case, including using human review as appropriate, before using or sharing Output from the AI Tool.

Our AI Tool may provide incomplete, incorrect, or offensive Output that does not represent our views.

Similarity of Output: Due to the nature of our AI Tool and artificial intelligence generally, Output may not be unique and other users may receive similar output from our AI Tool.

Ownership: As between you and us, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you (a) retain your ownership rights in Input and (b) own the Output. We hereby assign to you all our right, title, and interest, if any, in and to Output. Our assignment above does not extend to other users’ output or any Third Party Output (as defined below).

Our use of Content. We can use your Content and any feedback you provide worldwide to provide, maintain, develop, and improve our AI Tool, comply with applicable law, enforce our terms and policies and keep our AI Tool safe, without compensation to you.

Third Parties: Our services may include third party software, products, or services, (“Third Party AI Tool”) and some parts of our AI Tool, may include output from those services (“Third Party Output”). Third Party AI Tools and Third Party Output are subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

If Output references any third party products or services, it doesn’t mean the third party endorses or is affiliated with us.

Our Disclaimer: The AI Tool is offered “as-is” and it is excluded from any indemnification obligations we may have to you. 

We make no representations or warranties for AI Tools, including any warranty that AI Tools will be generally available, uninterrupted or error-free, or that Content will be secure or not lost or damaged. Except to the extent prohibited by law, we expressly disclaim all warranties for AI Tools, including any implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or quiet enjoyment, and any warranties arising out of any course of dealing or usage of trade.
